Institutional Scholarships/Pell Grant Award Coordination

Guidelines
- A student receiving the Valedictorian, Salutatorian, U.I.L., or Endowed scholarship from Blinn College will receive both the scholarship listed and any Pell Grant awarded. The total of both awards may not exceed the student's cost of attendance, as calculated by the financial aid office.
- A student receiving the Valedictorian or Salutatorian scholarship will receive the scholarship for up to four long semesters as long as he/she maintains a 3.0 GPA and completes a minimum of twelve hours per semester. Availability of these scholarships can vary based on student demand. Students must contact the Scholarship Office prior to beginning attendance at Blinn College. The scholarships are for the Fall semester immediately following their graduation from high school.
- Valedictorian Scholarship
- Up to $1500 per semester.
- Salutatorian Scholarship
- Up to $1000 per semester.
- U.I.L. Scholarship
- A one-time scholarship available to students who placed 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in an Academic UIL competition at a state or district meet:
- $1000 for 1st place
- $750 for 2nd place
- $500 for 3rd place
- A student receiving a Blinn College institutional budgeted scholarship—including, but not limited to, Baseball, Softball, Basketball, Volleyball, Cheerleading, Dance, Band, Choir, Theatre Arts, or Agriculture Project Show scholarships—is eligible to receive both the scholarship and the Pell Grant. The total of both awards may not exceed the student’s cost of attendance, as calculated by the financial aid office.
- Students receiving the Livestock Judging scholarship will receive the scholarship to cover any Blinn College charges (tuition, fees, room, board) that are not already covered by the Pell Grant, other Blinn awarded grants or scholarships, or outside scholarships.
- Exception: A student receiving a Football scholarship will have his Pell Grant applied as part of his Football scholarship total award as stated in the bylaws of the Southwest Junior College Football Conference.
