SUBJECT: Drug and Alcohol Prevention Program (DAAPP)

PURPOSE
Blinn College District is dedicated to providing a safe and healthy environment for students, employees, and visitors. This includes ensuring that the College District is a drug- and alcohol-free zone. The College District shares policies, resources, and dangers associated with alcohol or drug use with the campus community. Drug and Alcohol Safety Awareness Events, Legal Sanctions, and Health Risk information is available on the website titled Drug Free Schools and College Prevention Program.
Students and employees are encouraged to read and understand information about the College District’s Drug and Alcohol Abuse Prevention Programs (DAAPP). Blinn College District complies with the Drug-Free Schools and Campuses Regulations (34 CFR Part 86) and the U.S. Department of Education’s Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act Amendment of 1989 (Public Law 101-226).
The elements of Blinn College District’s DAAPP include:
- College policies
- Communicating policies and consequences to students and employees
- Face-to-face awareness activities
- Resources and support
- Offices responsible
- Review of violations and penalties
BIENNIAL REVIEW TIMELINE
In accordance with federal guidelines, Blinn College District will conduct a biennial review of the DAAPP during the summer of even numbered school years.
DISTRIBUTION
Blinn College District strives to provide the most up-to-date and accurate information to students and employees. The college will maintain a website with all policies, reviews, programing and resources consolidated in to one location. In addition, the College District shall:
- Students and employees will receive an email bi-annually containing information about the DAAPP with a link to more detailed information found on the program’s website.
- All employees will be emailed bi-annually the drug-free workplace statement.
- A Communication Management Campaign will be maintained to ensure all information is distributed to students and employees annually.
