Testing Procedures

Scheduling Exams

  • Students are strongly encouraged to schedule exams early in the semester.
  • Students should meet with the Testing Specialist prior to scheduling exams.
  • Students can submit their syllabi to the Office of Disability Services (ODS), and all exams for the semester will be scheduled accordingly. This is the preferred method.
  • Exams can also be scheduled individually at least two business days before the exam date (preferably one week in advance).
  • Please notify our office immediately if you need to cancel or reschedule an exam.
  • If a student arrives 15 or more minutes late without notifying Disability Services, they may need to reschedule the exam.
  • Rescheduling an exam requires confirmation from the instructor.
  • If a student arrives late after contacting Disability Services, the student will only have the remaining time in their scheduled time slot to complete the exam.
  • Students who do not require a Reader or a Scribe may choose to take their exams in the Blinn College Learning Center on their campus.
  • After three instances of no-shows or tardiness without prior communication, the student must meet with the Director or Testing Specialist.
  • Testing availability cannot be guaranteed for requests submitted less than two business days prior to the exam.

Testing Locations:

  • Students are responsible for informing instructors of testing dates, times, and locations.
  • Students should remind instructors to submit paper exams and testing forms to Disability Services. Test forms are also required for online exams.

For more information on testing services at the Learning Centers, please contact bryanlc@blinn.edu or visit www.blinn.edu/learning-center. Learning Centers operate primarily on a walk-in basis, but private testing spaces require advance reservations. Please contact your campus Learning Center for scheduling.

Testing Room Procedures

  • Cell phones, smartwatches, backpacks, notebooks, notes, textbooks, or other equipment are not permitted in the testing area unless explicitly approved due to disability accommodations.
  • Notes and textbooks are permitted only if clearly indicated on the instructor’s testing form.
  • Jackets with multiple pockets and/or hoods may need to be removed.
  • Students may be required to empty their pockets and show hands and arms to testing staff members to maintain exam integrity.
  • Secure lockers are provided for storing personal items during testing.
  • Bathroom breaks are permitted only if specifically noted on the student’s Letter of Accommodations.
  • The testing area is monitored by surveillance cameras, and all sessions are recorded.

Bryan Campus:

  • Students who require a reader or scribe are encouraged to test in the Office of Disability Services.
  • Students must contact Disability Services to schedule their exams in advance.
  • Students on file with ODS have the option of testing in the Learning Center. Please contact their office to determine walk-in hours or appointment requests at bryanlc@blinn.edu.
