Recommended Equipment and Software

Students in this program should have a personal laptop or desktop computer that can run Adobe Creative Cloud and Autodesk software. System requirements can be found at the following links:

It is recommended that a photographer/graphic designer/digital artist also have a DSLR camera. This can be a consumer grade camera like a Canon Rebel or Nikon D3000 series. If your focus is on photography, talk with your photo instructor on supplemental lighting equipment.

Estimated Equipment Costs

Estimate a minimum of $2,000 for a brand new DSLR camera and computer. A good graphics card, memory, and drive space are all things that you need to pay attention to when purchasing a computer for graphic art.

Students don’t need a DSLR camera immediately, but it’s always good to have. Students enrolled in courses that require DSLR cameras may check them out from the library.

Estimated Software Costs

Both Adobe and Autodesk software licenses are available for free through Blinn as long as you are enrolled in courses that use these programs. You can also purchase your own licenses for these tools.
