Admission Criteria

The Blinn College District Surgical Technology Program is a competitive-entry program with one admission cycle per year. Below are minimum requirements to be considered for admission:

  • Age Requirement: All applicants must be 18 years of age or older at the time of application.
  • Blinn College Admission: Complete all Blinn College admission requirements. For more information, visit the Blinn College Admissions page.
    • Note: Acceptance into Blinn College does not guarantee acceptance into the Surgical Technology Program.
  • TSI College Ready: Applicants must be TSI College Ready in all subjects according to Blinn College standards. For more details, visit the Texas Success Initiative Assessment page.
  • Program Application Packet: Complete the Surgical Technology Program application packet and meet all its requirements by the stated deadline.

To strengthen your application and improve your chances of acceptance, consider exceeding the minimum requirements. The following factors are also considered during the admissions process:

  • GPA/Completion of Courses:
    • BIOL 2401: Anatomy and Physiology I
    • HITT 1305: Medical Terminology I
    • BIOL 2402: Anatomy and Physiology II
    • BIOL 2420: Microbiology for Non-Science Majors
  • Admissions Essay: Submit a well-crafted admissions essay.
  • ATI TEAS Test Scores: High scores on the ATI TEAS test are advantageous.
  • Interview: Perform well in the interview process.
