Assistive Technology

Assistive technology and adaptive equipment are available for student and employee use in some of Blinn’s campus libraries and learning centers. Contact the Office of Disability Services on the attending campus to request specific assistive technology for your coursework.

Examples of assistive technology and adaptive equipment include, but are not limited to:

  • Adjustable computer workstations or tables
  • Assistive listening devices
  • Audio recording devices
  • Screen readers and magnifiers
  • Speech-to-text devices and software
  • Colored Overlays

Disability Services and Academic Technology have partnered together to provide free licensing for reading software for all Blinn students and employees. Students and employees can complete the registration process to download Fusion (reading software and zoom text) on personal devices using your Blinn email credentials to register. Please follow the registration directions at the link below to sign up and download.

We are very excited that all students and employees can access reading software from their personal devices to aid in their success.

Bookshare

Bookshare audiobooks and ebooks are transformative. They make it easier for students with learning differences to read with powerful assistive reading features. Students can listen to books, follow with word-level highlighting, read in large text or braille, and customize their reading experience to learn in ways that work for them. Students can sign up for free at the following link. Please allow a week for Bookshare to process students requests.
