ASCEND Admissions Process
To be reviewed for prequalification, follow the below guidelines that match your current standing:
Incoming Freshman Guidelines
- Complete the ApplyTexas application for Blinn College
- Choose electives to match TAMU RN-BSN course requirements
- Apply for the AAS in Nursing (ADN) at Blinn College once the above requirements are met (Blinn Requirements)
- Apply to the ASCEND (RN-BSN) Program at Texas A&M College of Nursing (ASCEND Requirements)
- Fall AAS in Nursing start: Texas A&M College of Nursing NursingCAS applications are due in January during the second semester of the ADN Program
- Spring AAS in Nursing start: Texas A&M College of Nursing NursingCAS applications are due in January during the first semester of the ADN Program
Transferring College Student Guidelines
Transferring: Student who has taken prerequisite courses at another college, or has a previous degree
- Complete the ApplyTexas application for Blinn College
- Select major as: pre-ADN
- Ensure you have completed all TAMU RN-BSN course requirements
- Apply for your AAS in Nursing (ADN) at Blinn once the above requirements are met (Blinn Requirements)
- Apply to the ASCEND (RN-BSN) Program at the Texas A&M College of Nursing
- Fall AAS in Nursing start: Texas A&M SON NursingCAS applications are due in January during the second semester of the ADN Program
- Spring AAS in Nursing start: Texas A&M SON NursingCAS applications are due in January during the first semester of the ADN Program
Minimum Requirements
- Must be enrolled in Blinn's Associate Degree Nursing Program (Traditional Option)
- Must have and maintain a 3.0 GPA in all ASCEND prerequisites, nursing science courses, and ADN-RN courses.
- Must complete Texas A&M RN-BSN prerequisite courses
- Must earn a grade of "C" or better within two attempts for any prerequisite to be eligible for admission.
