Blinn College to host sociology program information sessions in November
Info sessions will highlight transfer opportunities and career pathways
November 3, 2026
The Blinn College District will host three information sessions for prospective students interested in careers focused on understanding human behavior and society by pursuing an Associate of Arts (AA) in Sociology.
All three information sessions will be held via Zoom with one in-person opportunity:
- Monday, Nov. 16, 7 p.m. (Zoom only)
- Thursday, Nov. 19, 3 p.m. (Zoom and in-person at the Blinn RELLIS Administration Building, Room 274)
- Monday, Nov. 23, 4 p.m. (Zoom only)
Designed for individuals planning to enroll at Blinn, the sessions will provide an overview of the sociology program’s curriculum, transfer opportunities, and the many academic and career pathways available to sociology graduates.
“Studying sociology prepares students to look beyond the surface, understand complex social issues, and develop solutions that can make a lasting difference,” said Robert Stanberry, Department Head. “I encourage anyone interested in making an impact in their community to attend one of our information sessions.”
Blinn’s program provides a strong academic foundation for students planning to pursue a four-year degree while developing skills that translate into a variety of professional fields. Through coursework examining people, groups, and their contributions to human society, students learn to address real-world challenges using critical thinking, data analysis and interpretation, and collaboration.
Blinn’s AA in sociology opens doors to numerous career paths, including human resources, social work, criminal justice, research, public policy, and nonprofit management. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, sociologists earn a median salary of $106,030 per year.
