Blinn recognizes five Surgical Technology Program graduates with pinning ceremony

Program prepares students for careers in one of healthcare’s most in-demand professions

Five Blinn College District students were honored recently during a pinning ceremony celebrating their completion of the College’s Surgical Technology Program.

Graduates received their pins after successfully completing a rigorous two-year program that includes lecture and laboratory classes as well as clinical observation and operating room experience.

“The demand for skilled surgical technologists continues to grow, and these graduates have worked hard to gain the expertise needed to succeed in this essential field,” Program Director Linda Hill said. “Their accomplishments reflect countless hours of training and hands-on experience, and we are proud to celebrate the impact they will have on the patients and communities they serve.”

Surgical technologists assist surgeons, anesthesiologists, and registered nurses in providing care to patients in the operating room. They ensure that equipment functions properly and operative procedures are conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety. Blinn’s Surgical Technology Program is based at the RELLIS Academic Complex at Texas A&M-RELLIS, which features state-of-the-art simulation labs and an innovative learning environment.

The 2026 graduating class includes:

• Rebekah Belovoskey – College Station, Texas
• London DeVallier – St. Paul, Minn.
• Lillian Hartl – Port Lavaca, Texas
• Halle Mitchell – Lexington, Texas
• Kaleb Velazquez – Sealy, Texas

“Blinn’s Surgical Technology Program gave me the confidence, hands-on experience, and technical skills I needed to succeed in the operating room. The supportive instructors and valuable clinical rotations prepared me for my career as a Certified Surgical Technologist in orthopedics at The Physicians Centre Hospital, where I’ll help provide safe, high-quality patient care,” said Hartl. “Blinn also taught me the importance of teamwork, communication, and maintaining a sterile environment, giving me the foundation to make a positive impact during what is often a patient’s most difficult and vulnerable moments.”

In addition to their classes, Blinn students gain hands-on clinical experience at Baylor Scott & White, CHI St. Joseph Health facilities, Park Hudson Surgery Center, and The Physicians Centre Hospital. Students in the program must complete more than 120 surgical cases across a variety of surgical specialties, and many graduates have successfully obtained employment at many of the same facilities where they refined their skills.

Surgical technologists often are employed at hospitals but can work in any setting that conducts surgical procedures, including doctor’s offices, day surgery facilities, and dental offices. Blinn’s Surgical Technology Program also can provide a launching pad to other healthcare careers.
