The Blinn College District concert bands will present a free performance Friday, March 3, at the Dr. W.W. O’Donnell Performing Arts Center on the Brenham Campus.

The concert is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the O’Donnell Center at 600 Blinn Boulevard ( map ). No tickets are necessary, and the concert will be live streamed on the Blinn College Music Department YouTube Channel.

The Symphonic Band, conducted by Dr. Kendall Prinz, Assistant Director of Bands, will perform a variety of music, including an original composition by Prinz. Prinz dedicated the piece, titled “Solace,” to his father as a Christmas present in 2007.

The Symphonic Band will also perform “Burn,” by Roland Barrett, which originally was composed for the Dallas Wind Symphony; “In Tatum Lux (The Only Light)” by Todd Stalter, which was dedicated to a small-school music educator in honor of her life and faith; and “Fate of the Gods” by Steven Reineke, which tells the story of Ragnarok from Norse mythology.

The Wind Symphony also will perform a diverse array of works and will feature alto saxophonist Jacob Espinoza, the winner of the Blinn Band’s annual concerto competition.

“It should be a fun-filled evening full of wonderful music,” said Dr. Sarah Burke, Director of Bands.
