Blinn Board of Trustees receives positive fall enrollment report

Preliminary figures show a 2.52% increase over last year

The Blinn College District Board of Trustees received a preliminary enrollment report Tuesday indicating that fall 2022 registration has increased over last year’s figures.

Dr. Becky McBride, Vice Chancellor for Student Services, shared that as of Monday, Sept. 12, Blinn’s unofficial fall enrollment was 17,255 students, a 2.52% increase from the same time period last year. This included a 3.08% increase in contact hours, which is included in the formula to determine state funding.

The preliminary enrollment figures include:

• 6,614 Blinn-Bryan students (a 7.68% increase),
• 3,463 online students (an 18.67% decrease as more classes are offered on campus),
• 3,047 RELLIS students (a 10.76% increase),
• 2,071 Blinn-Brenham students (a 13.60% increase),
• 1,827 high school dual-credit students (a 14.69% increase),
• 64 Blinn-Schulenburg students (a 5.88% decrease),
• and 43 Blinn-Sealy students (a 13.16% increase).

Registration remains open for fall 12-week classes that begin Monday, Sept. 26; 8-week classes that begin on Monday, Oct. 24; and 4-week classes that begin Monday, Oct. 17, and Monday, Nov. 14. Registration for winter minimester and spring classes open for current students at 9 a.m. Monday, Oct. 10, and for all students at 9 a.m. Monday, Oct. 17.

McBride also shared with the board that 1,491 students are residing on campus housing on the Brenham Campus, an increase of 225 compared to last fall. Blinn-Brenham, which opened the new Prairie Lea Hall in August, offers more student housing than any other community college in the State of Texas and registered students can still apply for housing for upcoming terms.
