Paramedic Program Application Packet (Spring Application)

Program overview

The Paramedic Program begins every spring semester and finishes with an internship in the fall (January–December). Admission is competitive and requires submission of a complete application and an oral interview.

Please note: Partial or incomplete applications will not be considered. Admission to Blinn College does not guarantee admission to the Paramedic Program (and vice-versa).

How to submit your application

Your application file must be complete. Submit by mail, email, or deliver directly to the EMS Office.

Steps to be considered

  1. Apply for admission to Blinn College
    Students must meet Blinn College requirements for admission (ApplyTexas).
  2. Submit copies of all college transcripts
    Unofficial transcripts may be accepted for program application; official copies are required by Blinn for admission.
  3. Meet all Paramedic Program requirements for certificate and/or degree
    Includes TSI compliance and required coursework/certifications.

Prerequisites and program requirements

TSI compliance

A student must be TSI college ready by Blinn College standards.

College-level anatomy & physiology

  • Degree options may require BIOL 2401 and BIOL 2402 (catalog-year dependent).
  • Complete BIOL 2401 prior to entry (per packet guidance).

EMT certification (two options)

  1. Submit current EMT certification (NREMT or TDSHS).
  2. Submit proof of eligibility to test (letter with expected NREMT date + proof of EMT training). If accepted, evidence of EMT certification is required within 30 calendar days of the first day of the program.

Requirements after acceptance/enrollment

  • CPR certification (Healthcare Provider/Professional Rescuer level) to participate in clinical rotations.
  • Immunizations required by the Division of Health Sciences before clinical participation.

Health Sciences required immunizations

TB test

  • Date must be good within a year (must remain valid throughout the program).
  • Accepted tests include TB skin test, T-Spot, Quantiferon Gold, or chest X-ray (with specified conditions).

TDAP

  • Must be within 10 years.
  • Must be the combo vaccine containing all 3 components.

Hepatitis B titer / series

  • Provide a positive quantitative titer/serologic test, or follow booster/series steps if negative.
  • Series options may include 3-dose, 2-dose, or combined series depending on vaccine type.

Application deadlines

The deadline to apply for the upcoming spring semester is Friday, October 9, 2026, by 5:00 p.m. Always check with the EMS Office for possible extension.

Applicants will be notified via email to schedule an interview within two weeks following the deadline (unless extended). If you have not received notice after two weeks, contact the EMS Office.

Application grading criteria

Applicants may be scored based on criteria such as:

  • College and/or high school GPA
  • A&P grade
  • Recommendation letters
  • Years of active EMS service
  • Years of volunteer service
  • Years of military service

Interview process

Once applications have been received and reviewed, the interview process will begin. Students who submit a complete application and meet prerequisite criteria will be contacted to schedule an interview.
