Blinn livestock judging team places fifth at North American International Livestock Exposition
Jhett West is third-high individual, placing first in two categories

The Blinn College livestock judging team placed fifth at the North American International Livestock Exposition in Louisville, Ky., highlighted by a strong individual performance from Jhett West, who finished third overall.
Blinn totaled 4,580 points in Monday’s contest, including placing third in swine; fourth in beef reasons and swine reasons; and fifth in performance swine, beef, and reasons.
West led the Buccaneers with a pair of first-place finishes in swine reasons and performance swine. He also placed third in beef and overall reasons, fourth in beef reasons, 10th in performance beef, and 13th in sheep reasons.
Paige Zimrich was seventh in performance beef, Ryleigh Gilfoil eighth in performance swine and swine, Kenna Schram 11th in swine, and Jenna Lindig 13th in performance swine.
Blinn’s next competition is the Griswold Cattle Classic on Dec. 19 in Stillwater, Okla.
Blinn’s Agricultural Sciences Program has one of the most active extracurricular programs in the state, including livestock judging, Agriculture Club, wildlife, agriculture mechanics, and horticulture. Blinn offers agriculture classes on all its campuses, with the W.J. “Bill” Rankin Agricultural Complex on the Brenham Campus serving as the program’s hub.
