The Blinn College livestock judging team placed second and four individuals placed in the top 10 at the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo’s contest Friday.

Blinn totaled 3,704 points, second behind Redlands Community College’s 3,714 points. Students competed in beef cattle, sheep/goats, swine, horses, and reasons.

Kinsey Gardner led Blinn with a third-place individual finish overall, compiling 933 points. Tanna Thiel was fifth overall (933 points), Samuel Belt placed seventh (931 points), and Dax DeLozier was eighth (also with 931 points).

Gardner placed fourth in reasons and seventh in sheep/goats and beef. Thiel was fifth in beef; Belt was fourth in swine, sixth in sheep/goats, and ninth in reasons; and DeLozier was fifth in swine, eighth in beef, and 10 th in horses.

Others placing in the top 10 were Bryson Stone, second in horses; Blane Warnken, fourth in sheep/goats and fifth in reasons; Brooke Poole, fourth in horses; Justin Spies, ninth in sheep/goats; and Devyn Gaff, 10 th in swine.

“I’m proud of the students and their performances at another competitive outing,” said livestock judging coach Adrian Austin. “We are looking forward to taking both our freshman and sophomore teams to the Dixie National coming up this weekend.”

Blinn remained ranked second in LivestockJudging.com’s overall community college standings for 2023-24 with 3,703 points. Redlands Community College is first with 3,714 points.

Livestock judging is part of Blinn’s Agricultural Sciences Program, which has one of the most active extracurricular programs in the state, including the Agriculture Club, wildlife, agriculture mechanics, and horticulture.

Blinn offers agriculture classes on all its campuses, with the W.J. “Bill” Rankin Agricultural Complex on the Brenham Campus serving as the program’s headquarters.
