Blinn College is dedicated to providing the least restrictive learning environment for all students. Therefore, support services for students with disabilities are provided on an individual basis, upon request.
The Office of Disability Services (ODS) serves students requiring special support services due to:
Prior to receiving accommodations, appropriate supporting documentation must be received and approved.
Review of documentation can take up to four weeks; we recommend sending documentation as soon as possible. Be sure to include complete contact information (student and parent names; home, work and cell telephone numbers and/or home mailing address; preferred e-mail address and your campus of choice, and if assigned, the student’s Blinn I.D. number) when submitting documentation. Documentation can be mailed, scanned as an e-mail attachment or faxed to your chosen campus (Brenham, Bryan, Schulenburg, Sealy).
Once your documentation has been reviewed and accepted, you will be contacted to schedule an intake appointment. You will also be contacted if further documentation is needed. No intake appointment will be made until documentation has been received and approved.
"Appropriate supporting documentation" would be testing results from your high school diagnostician or licensed psychologist indicating the type of test(s) given, the test scores, and the interpretation of the test scores; and/or a letter on professional letterhead from your medical doctor, physical/speech/occupational therapist, audiologist, ophthalmologist, or other licensed person appropriate to make the diagnosis indicating the diagnosis or type of disability.
Documentation must show current functioning of the student. Appropriate diagnostic testing cannot be older than 5 years; some documentation may be required to be as recent as within the last month, depending on the diagnosis.
