More than 3,400 students took the next step toward their educational goals by applying to the Blinn College District during Texas Free College Application Week, Oct. 12-18.
During the statewide initiative encouraging students to explore higher education opportunities, 3,418 students applied to Blinn.
Although Texas Free College Application Week has concluded, prospective Buccaneers can continue to apply at no cost. Blinn’s admission application is always free, whether students are enrolling for the current academic year or planning ahead for fall 2027.
“We are excited to see so many students taking this important step toward their futures,” said Dr. Becky McBride, Vice Chancellor for Student Services. “Whether students are preparing to transfer to a university, pursue a rewarding career, or earn a professional credential, Blinn offers affordable pathways to help them achieve their goals. Texas Free College Application Week may have concluded, but our application is always free, and our team is ready to help students take the next step.”
Students who want to get started sooner can take advantage of open registration for Blinn’s winter minimester and spring 2027 courses.
Blinn’s 2026-27 winter minimester runs Dec. 14-18 and Dec. 28-Jan. 6, offering an accelerated opportunity to earn college credit between the fall and spring semesters. These courses can help students get ahead in their degree plans, complete prerequisites, or reduce their spring course loads.
Registration also is open for the spring 2027 semester, allowing students to begin or continue pursuing academic degrees, university transfer pathways, and workforce credentials.
Blinn offers courses at its Brenham, Bryan, RELLIS, Schulenburg, Sealy, and Waller locations, as well as online. Students benefit from small classes, personalized instruction, extensive academic support, and tuition and general fees that save them 52% compared to the average Texas public university.
In addition to its academic transfer pathways, Blinn offers a wide variety of career-training programs designed to prepare students for in-demand careers in healthcare, technology, skilled trades, business, and other fields. Through its Institutional Credentials Leading to Licensure and Certification (ICLCs), students can prepare for professional licensure or industry certification in their chosen career field in as little as one semester.
Blinn also boasts the highest university transfer rate among Texas community colleges, helping students build a strong academic foundation before continuing their education at a four-year institution.
Prospective students planning for the next academic year can get an early start. Blinn’s fall 2027 admission application, endowed scholarship application, and Brenham Campus housing application are all open.
Through a single endowed scholarship application, students can be considered for more than 350 scholarships. Students interested in living on the Brenham Campus, Blinn’s only campus offering on-campus residence life, also can apply for housing. While the College’s admission application is free, a fee is required to submit the housing application.
Current Blinn students can register for winter minimester and spring 2027 courses through their myBLINN portal. New students can begin the admission process and follow a step-by-step guide to becoming a Buccaneer at www.blinn.edu/apply.
