Audience decides the Big Bad Wolf’s fate in Blinn-Brenham production of ‘The Big Bad Musical’

Interactive, family-friendly musical opens Theatre Arts Program’s 2026-27 season Sept. 24-27

The Big Bad Wolf is on trial, a cast of familiar storybook characters is demanding justice, and the audience gets to decide the verdict when the Blinn College District Theatre Arts Program opens its 2026-27 Brenham Campus season with “The Big Bad Musical.”

This interactive, family-friendly production will be staged at 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Sept. 24 and 25, and 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 26 and 27, at the Dr. W.W. O’Donnell Performing Arts Center, 600 Blinn Boulevard on the Brenham Campus. School preview performances will be held at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Sept. 24 and 25.

Directed by Theatre Arts Instructor Jennifer Patrick, “The Big Bad Musical” puts the infamous wolf on trial as Little Red Riding Hood, the Three Little Pigs, the Boy Who Cried Wolf, and other storybook characters take the stand to tell their sides of the story.

At the end of the trial, the audience serves as the jury and determines the wolf’s fate. With multiple possible endings, each performance can unfold differently.

“You and your family won’t want to miss this show,” she said. “At every performance, the audience gets to decide the fate of the wolf, which means our actors never know how the story will end. Every show is a brand-new adventure, and the ending is entirely up to the audience.”

“The Big Bad Musical” is appropriate for all ages, Patrick said.

The cast includes Jude Netanel as Sydney Grimm (commentator on live Court TV); Joyous Feagins as Fairy Godmother; Marilis Alvarado as Little Red Riding Hood, Lanna Solomon as Grandmother Hood; Keylan Richardson, Russell Beyer, and Ace Burns as the Three Little Pigs; Anthony Pena as Bill Woodcutter; Ethan Mugambi as Shepherd; Ivory Lasker as the Boy Who Cried Wolf; Tevin Simmons as the Big Bad Wolf; Jaden Mertz as Judge Wise Old Man; Annabelle Chisum as Evil Stepmother; Abigail Escamilla as Miss Muffet; and Tamaya Farr, Rylie King, Gloria Gomez, and Lizzy Foster as The Wolfettes.

The production team includes James Rahman as stage manager and Alyssa Herandez and Luis Ramirez as assistant stage managers. Eric Wilcher will entertain audiences as a pre-show magician.

The remainder of the 2026-27 season include:

• “Little Shop of Horrors (Broadway Version),” 7 p.m. Nov. 12 and 13, and 2 p.m. Nov. 14 and 15 (preview performances will be at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Nov. 12, and 10 a.m. on Nov. 13);
• “Antigone,” 7 p.m. Feb. 18 and 19, and 2 p.m. Feb. 20 (preview performances Feb. 18 and 19 at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.) and;
• “All in the Timing: Five One-Act Plays,” 7 p.m. April 15 and 16, and 2 p.m. April 17 and 18 (school previews April 15 and 16 at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.).

Blinn’s improvisation troupe, “Slaphappy,” will perform Oct. 29 and April 25. Both performances will be at 7 p.m. at the O’Donnell Center.
