Blinn Board adopts 2026 property tax rate

Revenue will support Brenham Campus operations in Washington County

September 10, 2026

The Blinn College District Board of Trustees adopted a property tax rate of $0.0468 per $100 valuation during its meeting on Thursday, Sept. 10.

The adopted rate is estimated to generate approximately $3,582,611 in property tax revenue and equates to approximately $46.80 in annual taxes for every $100,000 in taxable property value.

At $0.0468 per $100 valuation, Blinn continues to maintain the lowest property tax rate among Texas’ 50 community college districts.

Under state law, all property tax revenue collected by the Blinn College District must be spent in Washington County. Property taxes represent approximately 2% of Blinn’s annual budget, and those local revenues help support the operation and maintenance of the Brenham Campus.

The Brenham Campus has a Fiscal Year 2027 maintenance and operations budget of $6,435,532. Property tax revenue helps fund those day-to-day operating expenses, including facility maintenance, utilities, infrastructure, and other costs associated with serving students.

Although approximately $3.58 million in property tax revenue is projected for the coming year, that revenue represents only a portion of the Brenham Campus’ $6.43 million maintenance and operations budget.
