The Blinn College District Vocational Nursing Program is accepting applications for its spring 2027 cohort, offering students an opportunity to prepare for rewarding healthcare careers while helping meet the ongoing demand for skilled nurses.
Applications are due by Friday, Nov. 6. A maximum of 30 students will be admitted to the cohort, which begins in January.
Blinn’s Vocational Nursing Program combines classroom instruction, hands-on laboratory training, and clinical experiences in area healthcare facilities to prepare students with the skills and confidence to succeed in the profession.
“Across Texas and the nation, the nursing shortage continues to create an urgent need for compassionate, highly skilled healthcare professionals,” said Dr. Michelle Marburger, Program Director. “Now more than ever, individuals who are called to serve others have an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in their communities through a career in nursing.
“We encourage aspiring nurses to take the first step toward a career that offers purpose, stability, and the opportunity to positively impact countless lives. Today's students are tomorrow's healthcare leaders, and there has never been a more important time to answer the call to nursing.”
Prospective students must attend a mandatory virtual information session to receive an application link. Sessions will be offered at noon Sept. 23 and Oct. 28 and will last approximately one hour. Participants must keep their web cameras on throughout the session.
Each session provides valuable information for prospective students, including nursing career insights, Blinn’s admission criteria and requirements, required tests and immunizations, licensure eligibility, degree plans, and the application process for admission.

Blinn’s Vocational Nursing Program admits one cohort each fall and spring. Students complete classroom and laboratory instruction as well as clinical rotations at hospitals and other healthcare facilities throughout the region.
Graduates are eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-PN) and the Nursing Jurisprudence Examination and are considered licensed vocational nurses after passing both exams.
