The Blinn-Bryan Theatre Troupe (BBTT) invites students and community members to explore their creativity by auditioning for the acclaimed musical “Come From Away,” the first production of the troupe’s 2026-27 season.

Set in the days following the tragic events of Sept. 11, 2001, “Come From Away” tells the true story of the residents of Gander, Newfoundland, in Canada, who welcomed approximately 7,000 stranded airline passengers after U.S. airspace was closed. The Tony Award-nominated musical celebrates compassion, community, and the unexpected friendships that emerged during a time of uncertainty and fear.

“This musical tells an extraordinary true story of kindness, resilience, and human connection,” said Blinn College Theatre Arts Instructor Dr. Evleen Nasir, who directs the musical.

“Whether you’ve spent years on stage or are thinking about getting involved for the very first time, we encourage you to audition. The theatre is about tapping into your creative side, and this production is a wonderful opportunity for individuals who love the theatre or for those interested in expanding their interests. For students who are new to Blinn, this is a wonderful opportunity to connect with your peers and form meaningful friendships.”

Auditions will take place at the Blinn-Bryan Student Center (Room F-120) on Wednesday, Aug. 26, at 6 p.m. Callbacks will take place Thursday, Aug. 27, at 6 p.m.

Those auditioning for the cast should prepare 16 bars from a musical selection and bring sheet music for the accompanist. Auditions will include cold readings from the script.

In addition to onstage opportunities, the BBTT will conduct technical crew interviews for students and community members interested in working behind the scenes. Positions include stage management, lighting, sound, costumes, props, and backstage crew, to name a few.

No previous theatre experience is required to audition or interview.

“Come From Away” will be staged at the Blinn-Bryan Student Center Nov. 12-14 and Nov. 20-21 at 7 p.m. and Nov. 22 at 2 p.m. The BBTT also will stage Thorton Wilder’s “Our Town” in April. Auditions for this production will take place in January 2027.

Tickets for both shows are available at www.blinn.edu/boxoffice.
