“The faculty in Blinn’s Associate Degree Nursing Program truly set this experience apart. Many of our instructors continue to practice as registered nurses, so they brought current, real-world knowledge into every lesson,” Arney said. “They challenged us to think critically, care deeply, and become nurses who are prepared to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our patients. I feel well prepared to begin working as a registered nurse, and I’m excited to be interviewing for a nurse residency position in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.”
Blinn’s 60-credit-hour LVN-Transition and Paramedic-to-RN Transition pathways are accelerated programs that allow licensed vocational nurses (LVNs) and paramedics to build upon their extensive medical training and experience to become registered nurses. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the 2024 median salary for an LVN was $62,340 per year and $46,350 per year for a paramedic, while registered nurses earned a median salary of $93,600. The LVN-Transition pathway is offered at the Blinn-Brenham and Texas A&M-RELLIS campuses, while the Paramedic-to-RN Transition option is available at Texas A&M-RELLIS.
Blinn Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) students gain hands-on skills utilizing state-of-the-art simulation laboratories and extensive clinical training, and the program has been recognized as one of the best in the state by NursingProcess.org, RNCareersorg, and RegisterNursing.org.
Students who complete Blinn’s ADN Program and pass the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN) have a job placement rate between 97 and 100% and are qualified for a wide array of nursing positions, including pediatric, geriatric, hospice, school, and clinical nursing.
