June 19, 2026
The Blinn College District has added a new workforce training opportunity to its summer II schedule, giving students the chance to build in-demand technology skills and prepare for two respected industry certifications in just one month.
ITNW 1009: Fundamentals of Cloud Computing and AI will be offered July 6 through Aug. 4 in three instructional formats. Students can take the non-credit course in person at the Blinn Waller Workforce and Technical Education Complex, in a live online format, or as a 100% online course with no scheduled class sessions.
The in-person Waller Campus section and live online section will meet Monday through Thursday from noon to 3:40 p.m. The 100% online section allows students to complete coursework online. Students who complete the course earn Blinn’s Fundamentals of AI and Cloud credential.
This 80-contact-hour course prepares students to sit for both the Amazon Web Services Certified Cloud Practitioner (CLF-C02) and AWS Certified AI Practitioner (AIF-C01) certification exams. Students will receive exam vouchers for both certification tests.
The AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner certification validates foundational knowledge of cloud concepts, security, pricing, architecture, and core AWS services. It is designed for individuals seeking to demonstrate a broad understanding of cloud computing and its role across modern organizations.
The AWS Certified AI Practitioner certification focuses on artificial intelligence fundamentals, including machine learning concepts, generative AI, responsible AI practices, and practical AI applications using AWS technologies. It is designed for learners seeking to understand how AI tools are being implemented across industries.
Together, these certifications can help prepare students for entry-level roles such as cloud support associate, IT support specialist, cloud operations technician, technical support analyst, automation specialist, AI support specialist, and business technology analyst. The credentials also can strengthen resumes for students pursuing additional education or advanced technology certifications.
During the course, students will develop foundational cloud computing skills alongside practical knowledge of AI, machine learning, and generative AI on AWS. Daily sessions combine instructor-led lectures with hands-on AWS labs in the AWS Academy and AWS Learner Lab environments.
“As cloud computing and artificial intelligence continue to transform the workforce, these certifications can help students stand out in a rapidly growing job market,” said Program Coordinator Carol Wiggins, who will teach the course. “This class provides practical, hands-on training in two of today’s most valuable technology fields.”
The Blinn-Waller Workforce and Technical Education Complex is located at 30029 Binford Park Road in Waller.
