Blinn College to host information sessions for Blinn-TEEX Forensic Science Academy

Prospective students can learn about hands-on forensic training and college credit opportunities

April 10, 2026

The Blinn College District Criminal Justice Program will host three upcoming information sessions to introduce prospective students and community members to the Blinn-Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) Forensic Science Academy, a unique partnership that combines academic coursework with hands-on forensic investigation training.

The sessions will be held via Zoom on Monday, April 20, at 7:30 p.m.; Wednesday, April 29, at 7:30 p.m.; and Wednesday, May 6, at 6:30 p.m. The May 6 session will also offer an in-person attendance option at the Blinn College-Bryan Campus Library.

Designed for current and prospective students, the sessions will provide an overview of the program curriculum, career pathways, and enrollment steps.

“This program gives students a unique opportunity to gain real-world, hands-on experience in forensic investigation while earning significant college credit,” said Robert Stanberry, Department Head. “Through our partnership with TEEX, students can develop valuable technical skills that prepare them for immediate employment while also advancing toward a degree.”

Students in the Blinn-TEEX Forensic Science Academy are co-enrolled at both institutions, making them eligible to earn Blinn’s Forensic Science Certificate and TEEX’s Forensic Investigation and Evidence Management Professional Certificate. In addition, students can earn 18 college credit hours that can be applied toward Blinn’s Associate of Applied Science in Criminal Justice Technology.

The program emphasizes hands-on training in key forensic disciplines, including crime scene investigation, forensic photography, latent print processing, and basic criminal investigation. While some coursework is completed online, in-person training takes place at Texas A&M-RELLIS in Bryan.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, forensic science technicians earn a median annual salary of $67,440, highlighting the strong career potential in this growing field.

Because Blinn and TEEX have separate application processes, prospective students are encouraged to attend an information session to receive guidance on enrollment and program requirements.
