Blinn College District Director of Simulations Sami Rahman recently earned her Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) certification from the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH), a prestigious credential demonstrating the College’s dedication to the highest level of healthcare education.

“Simulation education gives students the opportunity to learn, practice, and grow in a safe environment before stepping into real clinical settings,” Rahman said. “Earning this certification reflects my commitment to providing Blinn’s health science students with the most innovative resources to excel in their chosen fields. I truly love what I do, and I am passionate about helping Blinn’s students build the skills and confidence they need to succeed.”

Rahman is active in advancing the mission of Blinn’s Health Sciences Programs, presenting her work on artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare at numerous conferences and recently being named a fellow of the Academy of Associate Degree Nursing (AADN). In addition, Blinn’s Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) Program is pursuing the Program of Distinction recognition from the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), an accolade bestowed on programs that serve as national models in advancing high-quality nursing education.

“Earning this certification reflects Ms. Rahman’s drive to strengthen our simulation initiatives and provide the highest level of training for our students,” said Dean of Health Sciences Michelle Trubenstein. “Her achievements, alongside our ADN Program’s pursuit of the ACEN’s Program of Distinction, highlight Blinn’s dedication to creating highly skilled, compassionate caregivers across all of our Health Sciences Programs.”

Based at the RELLIS Academic Alliance Complex at Texas A&M-RELLIS in Bryan, Blinn’s ADN Program is a two-year course of study that prepares students to serve as registered nurses. In addition to the program’s 512-hour clinical rotation requirement, students complete traditional lecture-style courses, labs, and gain hands-on skills utilizing the campus’s 16,000-square-foot simulation laboratories. Most students dedicate 15 to 24 hours each week to scheduled program activities and at least 30 hours per week on study and preparation.

Students who complete Blinn’s ADN Program and pass the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) have a job placement rate between 97 and 100% and are qualified for a wide array of nursing positions. With demand soaring in the nursing field, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that registered nurses earn a median salary of $93,600.

In addition to nursing careers, Blinn’s Division of Health Sciences offers programs in Dental Hygiene, Emergency Medical Services, Fire Science, Health Information Technology, Health Sciences Nursing, Physical Therapist Assistant, Radiologic Technology, and Surgical Technology.
