The 26th Blinn College Ag Mechanics Show is headed back to its roots.

This year’s show, scheduled for Wednesday, April 22, will be held at the Washington County Fairgrounds. It was held there last year because of inclement weather.

The show was intended to be held at the fairgrounds when it was started, said Ben Burroughs, Ag Mechanics Professor and superintendent of the event since 2019, but it has been held at the W.J. “Bill” Rankin Agricultural Complex on the Brenham Campus until inclement weather forced a move last year.

“Originally, back in 2001 when the show started, the fairgrounds was going to be the site for the show. Ultimately the show happened on campus to showcase the facilities we have at Blinn,” said Burroughs.

The Ag Mechanics Show is one of the largest in the state, drawing entries ranging from 40-foot trailers to outdoor furniture to hydraulic animal grooming tables. Only shows in major cities like Houston and San Antonio attract more participation from FFA and 4-H students around the state.

The 2025 show had 269 registered projects.

“We are hopeful we will surpass 270 projects registered this year,” Burroughs said.

This year’s deadline for regular registration is 11:59 p.m. on Friday, April 3. Late registration starts on April 4, closing on Friday, April 10. No entries will be accepted after late registration ends.

Registration by FFA participants is available at judgingcard.com, with separate forms for the show’s cutting, welding, and project entries. Entries from 4-H members are available by email to rocksann.marburger@blinn.edu.

Spots are still available for the cutting contest, which will be held at the fairgrounds during the show. The welding contest, which is almost full, will take place at the Rankin Ag Complex beginning at 10:30 a.m. on the day of the show.

The Ag Mechanics Show has a Legacy Sponsor this year with Germania Insurance.

Blinn’s Agricultural Sciences Program offers a variety of courses leading to Associate of Science in Agriculture and Associate of Science in Agricultural Business degrees. Courses include several concentrating on ag mechanics, such as power units and construction.

The College also sponsors an Agricultural Mechanics Club that allows students to work on projects in a state-of-the-art facility and an Ag Club that is open to members majoring in an ag-related field. The Ag Club focuses on various areas of agriculture and allows students to explore specific interests, including ag mechanics, animal science, plant science, wildlife, and ag business.
