Blinn College Phi Theta Kappa chapter earns multiple honors at Texas regional conference
Alpha Phi Lambda recognized for excellence in leadership, research, and campus impact

The Blinn College District’s Alpha Phi Lambda chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society earned multiple awards and recognitions at the Phi Theta Kappa Texas Regional Conference, highlighting the chapter’s commitment to academic excellence, leadership, and service.
Based on the Bryan and RELLIS campuses, Alpha Phi Lambda was recognized across a wide range of categories, including chapter achievement, student leadership, faculty engagement, and project excellence.
Among the chapter’s top honors, Alpha Phi Lambda once again earned the prestigious Five Star Chapter Award, recognizing chapters that meet Phi Theta Kappa’s highest standards in the areas of Reach, Engage, Network, Lead, and Discover. The chapter has maintained this distinction for several consecutive years.
The chapter also received awards for its impactful programming and research initiatives, including the:
- Campus Impact Award, recognizing completion of a College Project;
- Excellence in Research and Action Award, honoring completion of an Honors in Action project;
- and the College Project Award of Merit for its project, “Beyond the Classroom: Helping Faculty Help Students.”
Alpha Phi Lambda’s creativity and communication efforts also were recognized, earning second place in the Texas Region Yearbook Contest, which includes almost 100 participating chapters.
Several students and advisors were individually honored for their outstanding service and leadership. Inducted into the District V Hall of Honor were students Angel Chumpitaz, Rylee Callaway, Jaden Leal, Hailey Vargas, Savannah Crozier, Jakeb Fincher, and Andres Polo, along with advisor Michelle Myers.
Additional individual recognitions included:
- Hall of Honor for Outstanding Members: Savannah Crozier
- Hall of Honor for Outstanding Officers: Diamantina Jenkins, Vice President of Scholarship
The chapter’s leadership team also received the Distinguished Officer Team Award for its service during the 2025 academic year, while advisors Jonnathon Hicks, Michelle Myers, and Rachel Valentine were recognized with the Distinguished Advisor Team Award for their mentorship and support.
In addition, the chapter accepted the Friend of Texas Award on behalf of Kierston Williams, Blinn College’s Coordinator of Student Leadership and Activities on the Bryan Campus. This honor is awarded to college employees who demonstrate exceptional support for Phi Theta Kappa and its mission.
