Ten students have completed the Blinn College District’s spring 2025 medication aide course, preparing them to take the Texas Health and Human Services Commission licensure exam and begin careers as certified medication aides.

Classes were held face-to-face at the Schulenburg Campus and via interactive video conference at the Brenham and Bryan campuses.

The 140-hour course covers medical abbreviations, symbols, terminology, and common equivalents required for medication administration. Topics include drug legislation, drug references, basic anatomy and physiology, and common diseases.

Certified medication aides perform a variety of duties, including administering prescription and non-prescription medications under the supervision of a licensed nurse and monitoring patients for changes in their condition.
