At just 16 years old, Reagan Moreau is about to earn her Fayetteville High School diploma and an Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts from the Blinn College District — completing three years’ worth of education ahead of schedule.

A standout at Fayetteville High School, Moreau will cross the stage at Blinn’s graduation ceremony on May 7 before accepting her high school diploma a full year early just two days later.

Blinn’s Dual Credit Program allows high school students like Moreau to earn college credit while completing their high school studies. Through the Alliance for College and Career Student Success (ACCSS), a partnership between the Blinn College District and area school districts, students in Columbus, Fayetteville, Flatonia, Moulton, Schulenburg, and Weimar can earn up to 60 hours of dual credit or workforce certifications in high-demand fields.

Moreau began her dual credit journey as a freshman, taking full advantage of the opportunity to accelerate her education.

“Blinn was extremely accommodating,” Moreau said. “I always had plenty of help from my professors and from the amazing resources at the Blinn-Schulenburg Campus like Sarah Nickel, Susie Shank, and Becky Garlick. Fayetteville teachers and counselors have been incredibly supportive as well.”

In addition to her academic achievements, Moreau is active in varsity basketball, 4-H, FFA, National Honor Society, UIL, and the Leo Club. She serves as class president, studies French, and is even learning to pilot an airplane.

Her ultimate goal? To become an expeditionary surgeon — a physician capable of performing surgeries in remote, rugged environments across the globe.

“It has been my dream since I was 7 years old,” Moreau said. “I want to bring top-notch medical expertise to expeditions and research missions on Mount Everest, K2, and remote volcanic islands off Japan, and to support humanitarian efforts in war zones and underserved regions. Dual credit gave me the chance to accelerate my education so I can start helping people even sooner.”

Moreau also gained critical experience through a summer/fall internship with Tejas Healthcare in La Grange, coordinated through Blinn and ACCSS.

“I was able to gain a variety of skills and complete 100 shadowing hours,” she said. “That internship will be crucial since the time typically used for internships and clinical experiences during undergraduate studies will be condensed for me.”

This fall, she will enroll at Texas A&M University to pursue a degree in biochemistry before moving on to medical school. Long term, she hopes to make an impact not only through medicine, but also in public service roles such as U.S. Surgeon General, ambassador, or even president.

“She’s a very driven young lady,” said Dr. Jeff Harvey, Superintendent of Fayetteville ISD and Chair of the ACCSS Leadership Board. “Blinn’s partnership with Fayetteville ISD through ACCSS created an incredible opportunity for Reagan to get a head start. Because of her determination and work ethic, she will achieve her dream of becoming a doctor much sooner than most.”

Dr. Harvey emphasized that Moreau’s success reflects both her personal drive and her commitment to putting in the hard work necessary to turn goals into reality.

“It’s one thing to be goal-oriented, but it’s another to see it through,” Harvey said. “Graduating with an associate degree while still in high school — and doing so a year early — speaks volumes about Reagan’s focus, dedication, and determination.”
