Blinn Staff Council embraces the holiday spirit with successful donation drive

Inaugural donation drive generates 240 pounds of food and goods for the Brazos Valley Food Bank

Staff from across the Blinn College District coordinated a successful donation drive that resulted in 240 pounds of food and in-demand items being donated to the Brazos Valley Food Bank (BVFB) this holiday season. Organized by the Blinn Staff Council, the drive reflects the generous and selfless spirit of Blinn staff who sacrificed their time and worked diligently to collect donations at multiple sites across campuses.

"This successful drive was a team effort and we’re just so proud we were able to help so many families in need," said Business and Mathematics Division Operations Coordinator Rebecca Reyes, who serves as Vice President of the Staff Council. "The amount of food we were able to collect reflects the spirit of community and giving back that is at the heart of Blinn and what makes the students, staff, and faculty so exceptional."

The Blinn Staff Council is committed to cultivating an engaged and enthusiastic community of staff members who are as passionate about supporting one another as they are about supporting Blinn students.

The donations raised reflect the contributions of Blinn staff, students, and faculty. Donations included canned and paper goods, and personal hygiene items such as diapers and baby wipes. This is the first food drive organized by the council, which already is considering other community service initiatives. Students in the Radiologic Technology Program were standouts in contributing donations to the drive.

The BVFB is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit committed to making the Brazos Valley hunger-free by collecting and distributing nutritious food through a network of partner agencies. The organization services Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Madison, Robertson, and Washington counties.
