Scholarships are available to students from a wide range of backgrounds, majors, and interests

January 30, 2023

The Blinn College District invites current and prospective students to apply for approximately $550,000 in endowed scholarships available for the 2023-24 academic year.

Students who have completed their application for admission to Blinn College at ApplyTexas.org can apply for more than 300 Blinn scholarships via a single application at www.blinn.edu/scholarships.

Officials recommend that students and prospective students submit their applications by April 1, 2023, to be considered for the first round of awards. Students will be notified of scholarship awards beginning in May.

“When students file for aid and apply for scholarships early, they significantly increase their chances of receiving funds,” said Brent Williford, Dean of Financial Aid and Scholarships. “In addition to filling out their FAFSA forms, students should follow up and make certain they aren’t missing any information on their Financial Aid Checklist for the 2023-24 academic year.”

Endowed scholarships are available to incoming and returning students from a wide range of backgrounds, majors, and experiences. Though some scholarships are restricted to students who fit specific criteria, if a student who exemplifies those requirements does not apply, the scholarship may be offered to a wider range of students. Students are considered based on high academic achievement, participation in student activities, and community involvement.

Almost all Blinn students are eligible for a scholarship, including but not limited to:

  • students attending the Brenham, Bryan, RELLIS, Schulenburg, or Sealy campuses;
  • Austin, Brazos, Burleson, Lee, Grimes, Fayette, and Waller county students;
  • students majoring in accounting, business, digital arts, education, English, graphic design, history, kinesiology, real estate certificate, speech, and theatre arts;
  • members of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society;
  • students accepted into the Brenham or Bryan Campus Licensed Vocational Nursing programs or the Bryan Campus Associate Degree Nursing Program;
  • Blinn athletes and students who were athletes in high school;
  • and students who participate in leadership activities or are involved in 4-H, FFA, or a church youth group.

A full list of the College’s endowed scholarships is available at http://catalog.blinn.edu. Students also can fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa www.fafsa.ed.gov.

In addition to its variety of endowed scholarships, Blinn awards UIL scholarships for students who placed first, second, or third at their state or district academic UIL competition; valedictorian and salutatorian scholarships; exemplary student scholarships for full-time students residing on the Brenham Campus who graduated high school during the most recent academic year with a high school GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale; athletic scholarships; and fine arts scholarships.

Students who have applied for admission to Blinn College will be notified through myBLINN when their aid processing has begun and can find updates there throughout the process. For more information, contact a scholarship advisor at scholarships@blinn.edu.

Blinn offers more than 100 associate degrees, certificates, and industry-recognized credentials, preparing students to immediately enter the workforce or transfer to a four-year university. According to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, Blinn’s academic transfer rate of 48.2% ranks No. 1 in the state and out-of-district Blinn students save 40% compared to the average tuition and fees rates at Texas public universities.

Registration for the May minimester and the summer and fall semesters will open to military veterans on Wednesday, March 22, and returning students at 9 a.m. Monday, March 27. Registration for new students opens at 9 a.m. Monday, April 3.
