For the second time in a month, the Blinn College-Bryan Campus Alpha Phi Lambda Chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Honor Society has been honored for their initiatives. The chapter took home three top honors at PTK’s international conference, PTK Catalyst, held recently in Denver, Colo.

The Blinn-Bryan honor society received the following top honors: Distinguished Honors in Action Project and Distinguished Theme Award for their research on environmentally friendly plumbing, as well as a Distinguished Chapter Award. This award considers a chapter’s Honors in Action Project and College Project to determine overall ranking. Blinn-Bryan’s chapter was one of 39 winners out of 1,200 total chapters to receive this recognition.

“To say I’m proud of these students is an understatement,” Blinn-Bryan PTK Co-Advisor Emily Erdmann said. “They worked incredibly hard on their projects and collaborated to better themselves, the chapter, and the Blinn community. They are dedicated scholars who reflect a passion for learning and a commitment to achieving their academic goals at Blinn and beyond.”

In addition, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Dr. Marcelo Bussiki was presented with the Distinguished College Administrator Award.

This international recognition comes just weeks after Blinn-Bryan’s honor society received six awards at PTK’s Texas regional conference, including Distinguished Advisor Award, Distinguished Chapter Officer Award, Top Texas Chapter, Honors in Action Award of Merit, and the College Project Award of Merit.

PTK is the premier honor society recognizing the academic achievements of students at associate degree-granting colleges. To be inducted, students must have at least a 3.5 grade point average with a minimum of 12 transferrable hours. The society is comprised of more than 3.8 million members, with almost 1,300 chapters in 11 countries.

In addition to these awards, the chapter also celebrated the induction of 187 new member.
