Call to Order

Attendance: Richard Hobbs, Shelly Peacock, Brandon Franke, April Kinkead, Amy Winngham, George Guarado, Jay Anderson, Janice Lapaglia, Victoria Fowler, Cyndi Klausmeyer, Kristi Urban, Deborah Vavra, Justin Nobles, Cody Stelter, Elmer Godeny, Ashley Davenport, Michelle Trubenstein, Marshall Rich, Ryan Gullett, Tressa Shavers, Katherine Wickes, Keith Combrink.

Approval of Minutes

Motion to approve the minutes as presented was made by Brandon Franke seconded by Richard Hobbs.

A Teams vote approved the motion. These votes for this meeting were recorded by the Teams Polling feature.

Committee Reports

Brandon Franke – The by-laws were to be voted on this month. The board policy states that Deans are not allowed to vote in the curriculum committee meetings. Our current policy is to allow Deans to vote. This conflict will be resolved and the other by-law changes will be voted on as a single set of changes next month. All curriculum committee members have access to Curriculog and all of the documents presented in the meeting can be viewed prior to the committee meeting. Training for new curriculum committee members will be offered during the fall convocation time.

New Business

  1. ATWED

Richard Hobbs presented information about the following courses. All of these changes have been approved by the advisory committee, faculty and student discussions.

  1. Course Change: CNBT1311 - Construction Materials and Methods. This is changing the hour count and prerequisite requirements. The course hours will be changed from 48 to 64 contact hours for the course. Prereq: CNBT1210 is changed to a co-enroll. Marshall Rich mentioned that the fee requirement will be removed from the course catalog.

A Motion was made to approve these changes by Brandon Franke and seconded by Michelle Trubenstein.

A Teams vote approved the motion.

  1. New Course: CNBT1344 – Construction Materials testing.

The new course will be an elective in the construction management program. It will also be used in the OSA highway construction program.

Motion for a vote was made by Shelly Peacock and was seconded by Ryan Gullett.

A Teams vote approved the motion.

  1. Course Change CNBT1346 –Construction Estimating I

The change to this class is the removal of all of the prerequisites.

A motion to approve the proposed changes was made by Sheely Peacock and seconded by Ryan Gullett.

A Teams vote approved the motion.

  1. New Course CNBT1359- Project Scheduling

This project scheduling class was proposed by the advisory committee for a Construction Management level II certificate and AAS certificate as described by the American Council of Construction Education.

A motion to approve the new course was made by Brandon Franke and seconded by Shelly Peacock.

A Teams vote approved the motion.

  1. New Course: CNBT2305 - Building and Contracting

Advisory committee recommended this building and contracting class be added to the program as describe by the American council of construction education. This will be added to the construction management to the AAS. A motion for approval was made by Shelly Peacock and seconded by Amy Winningham.

A Teams vote approved the motion.

  1. New Course CNBT 2317 Green Building

The course was suggested by the faculty and advisory committee to add as an elective to the construction management program.

A motion for approval was made by Brandon Franke and seconded by Deborah Vavra.

A Teams vote approved the motion.

  1. Course Change CNBT2342 The prerequisites will be changed from BMGT1327 and T to CNBT1210 as a co-enroll.

A motion to approve the change was made by Brandon Franke and seconded by Deborah Vavra.

A Teams vote approved the motion.

  1. New Course – CNSE1321

The new course will be used in the construction management program course and part of the the highway construction OSA project.

A motion to approve the change was made by Brandon Franke and seconded by Shelly Peacock.

A Teams vote approved the motion.

  1. New course - CNSE1341 Job site and Layout Development

The new course will be used in the construction management program course and part of the highway construction AAS.

A motion to approve the change was made by Brandon Franke and seconded by Shelly Peacock.

A Teams vote approved the motion.

  1. New Course CRPT1315 – Wall systems

The previous prerequisites will be removed and replaced with one prerequisite of CRPT1429.

A motion to approve the change was made by Ryan Gullett and seconded by Amy Winningham

  1. Course change: CRPT1323 Floor systems.

The previous prerequisites will be removed and replaced with one prerequisite of CRPT1429.

A motion to approve the change was made by Brandon Franke and seconded by Justin Nobles.

  1. Course Change CRPT1341 Exterior Finishes Systems

The previous prerequisites will be removed and replaced with one prerequisite of CRPT1429.

A motion to approve the change was made by Justin Nobles and seconded by Shelley Peacock.

  1. Program change: Facilities Maintenance AAS,

The program change is a change in the course order with the new courses added and adjusted contact hours. These changes are approved by the advisory committee and the faculty committee.

  1. Program change: Facilities Maintenance Cert I

The program change is a change in the course order with the new courses added and adjusted contact hours. These changes are approved by the advisory and the faculty committees.

This course will be added to the carpentry program. The course will be added to the Carpentry AAS program.

All FYI items reflect changes to courses or programs required by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board or accrediting body and may be submitted as a notification item as discussed in the by-laws of the Curriculum Committee.

Agenda items will need to be submitted by March 9, 2026.

The March board meeting is the last time that we can present any changes to the course curriculum.
