NEW BUSINESS:

Shelly Peacock- Course descriptions have not been updated since 1988 when most courses were geared to coaches. The new focus is physical therapy personal training and occupational therapy.

    1. New Course: KINE 1350 - Fundamentals of Strength and Conditioning

Was previously listed in ACGM as a PHED course. There is a movement to move these courses in the KINE listings.

    1. New Course: KINE 2358 – Psychological Aspects of Human Performance

Looks at motivation self-esteem, and theories for enhancing performance and changing behaviors.

    1. New Course: KINE 2360 – Introduction to Personal Training

Basics of personal training as a profession and sit for a national employment credential. This course can be considered for ICLC programs.

The courses are listed in the ACGM as KINE courses.

    1. New Course: KINE 2362 – Foundations of Exercise Science

Applying scientific principles to exercise and training.

Motion by Richard Hobbs to consider these courses as a batch. Victoria Folwer seconded the motion.

    1. New Program: Associate of Science Kinesiology Field of Study

Foundational courses KINE1301 Foundations of kinesiology, KINE1304 Personal and community health, KINE2356 athletic injuries and KINE1338 concepts of physical fitness. Intro to Psychology, PSYC2301 and BIOL2401, anatomy and physiology I. The selection of courses will depend on the requirements of the institution that the students will be transferring into. The courses approved above could be included as directed electives for the field of study.

Motion to approve the new program in the Kinesiology field of study by Michelle Marburger, seconded by Victoria Fowler.

    1. Course Change: CNBT 1300 – Residential and Light Commercial Construction Drawings Course is currently taught as a 64 hr course with a lab. The class will be shortened to a 48 h course to get away for a lab requirement.
    1. Course Change: CNBT 1342 – Building Codes and Inspections

The course to be used as a prerequisite to replace the prerequisite of CNBT1460.

A Proxie for Shelly Peacock by Deborah Vavra Deborah Vavra was made at this point in the meeting.

    1. New Course: CRPT 1345 – Interior Finish Systems

Richard Hobbs – the course is being added to a facilities maintenance course. The course was inadvertently deleted from the catalog. The course is needed for the facility maintenance field of study. The course will be added back to the catalog and calendar.

Motion to add to the catalog by Brandon Franke and seconded by Michelle Trubenstein.

  • Health Sciences
    1. Program Deletion: Certificate Level 2 Surgical Technology

Michelle Trubenisein noted that this program has not been taught since 2011. The SACS documentation has been submitted to support the course deletion. A teach-out plan is not necessary because there are no students currently enrolled. A teach out plan was submitted to SACSCOC

Motion for deletion of this program was made by Brandon Franke and seconded by Richard Hobbs.

    1. Program Change: AAS, CERT 2, CERT 1, OSA in Advanced Manufacturing and Mechatronics

Victoria Fowler presented that the name change for the program is to update the catalog and reflect what the course of study entails. The change has been approved by the advisory committee.

A motion was made by Richard Hobbs to approve the changes above. The motion was seconded by Deborah Vavra.

    1. New Program: Associate of Applied Sciences in Artificial Intelligence
    2. New Program: Certificate Level 2 in Artificial Intelligence

Carol Wiggins presented that the programs are designed to inform students about how to create AI models, support the models what type of equipment is needed and how to use generative AI in businesses. The changes have been approved by the advisory board and faculty committee. The new content is less than 50% so SASCOC approval is not necessary. A presentation to the board of trustees is planned. The program would begin in the Fall 2026.

    1. New Program: Associate of Applied Sciences in AI in Business

  • Tressa Shavers presented that the new programs are designed to be interdisciplinary between business and Computer Science subjects of AI and data analysis. Programs that could support ICLC’s will be developed. The changes are less that 50% so SASCOC approval is not necessary.

Carol Wiggins presented that this program change is to remove a prerequisite that is not necessary for this program.

Katherine Wickes presented that changes are needed to reflect what the curriculum committee does. A discussion of needed changes was held. The bylaws will be modified with a proposal to vote on that will be presented at a future meeting.
