The timeless music of Neil Diamond will take center stage as part of the 2025-26 Blinn College District Performing Arts Series with “I Am … He Said: A Celebration of the Music of Neil Diamond” on Thursday, Jan. 22, at 7 p.m. at the Dr. W.W. O’Donnell Performing Arts Center on the Blinn College-Brenham Campus.

Produced and performed by The Killer Vees, a talented family band rooted in rock and roll royalty, this high-energy show is a heartfelt celebration of one of America’s most beloved musical icons. With songs like “Cracklin’ Rosie,” “America,” “Sweet Caroline,” and “I’m A Believer,” the show spans decades of hits that defined generations.

“This is not a tribute show,” says Tommy Vee, bassist and co-producer. “This is a celebration of an amazing musical icon, one we all love and respect. We’ve gone back to the original records – it’s all about the vocals, and Matt nails it. It’s a rockin’ show!”

The Killer Vees are made up of Matt Vee, his cousins Jeff and Tommy Vee, sons of the late rock legend Bobby Vee, and a powerhouse band featuring Matt’s wife Julie Velline on vocals, Tommy’s son Bennett Vee on lead guitar, Chris Bloniarz on keyboards, Dennis Kennedy on percussion, and Richard Manik on saxophone, flute, and vocals. A surprise appearance from local talent will cap off the show with a special finale.

Known in the industry as the “rhythm section to the stars,” Jeff and Tommy Vee have toured or recorded with music legends including Paul McCartney, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Ronnie Wood, Jerry Lee Lewis, Brian Setzer, and many more. Matt Vee is a seasoned guitarist and vocalist who has performed internationally and toured for over a decade with Midwest favorite Johnny Holm. Together, the Killer Vees have created and toured a variety of acclaimed shows, including “Remembering Bobby Vee” and “Killer Country.”

“The Killer Vees bring unmatched talent and energy to the stage,” said Debbi Vavra, Dean of Arts, Kinesiology, and Agriculture. “Their connection to music history and heartfelt approach to performance make this a must-see for fans of Neil Diamond and great American songwriting.”

This performance is part of Blinn’s 2025-26 Performing Arts Series, which will conclude on March 22 with The Divas of Soul featuring Alfreda Gerald.

Tickets for “I Am… He Said” are $40, and admission to a special pre-show reception is $15. Tickets are available at www.blinn.edu/boxoffice or by calling 979-830-4024.
