Blinn-Schulenburg Campus announces spring technical, leisure learning classes
Offerings include health professions, painting, conversational Czech, electrician renewal classes

The Blinn College-Schulenburg Campus will offer courses in health professions, electrical licensing, and conversational Czech during the spring 2026 semester.
Career-focused courses include:
- Certified medication aide, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, 3-5 p.m. from Feb. 24-May 21. Designed for Certified Nursing Assistants, this $805 course covers a wide range of topics required for proper medication administration. After completing the course, students will be prepared to take the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) Medication Aide Licensure Exam. This class is also available by live video connection at the Brenham and Bryan Campus locations. Instructor is registered nurse Linda Rabel.
- Medication aide refresher course. This $75, one-day class will be held Monday, June 15 from 3-7 p.m. The course includes training and review in the preparation and administration of medications, documentation, licensing standards, safeguarding medications, common drug reactions and side effects, and an update on new medications available. It meets Texas Health and Human Services Commission requirements for certified medication aides to complete at least seven hours of in-service education annually. Rabel also will be the instructor.
- Online pharmacy technician, Feb. 9-May 8. Certified pharmacy technicians help patients get medications they need. This $1,450 course prepares students for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam, the first step toward licensure in Texas. This in-demand role offers strong career growth in retail, hospital, and clinical pharmacy settings.
- Electrical License Renewal Courses will be offered Feb. 26 and April 23 from 5:30-9:30 p.m. The cost of each one-day course is $45. The class meets all Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation state requirements. Texas electricians must renew their licenses annually by successfully completing four hours of continuing education. Instructor is Douglas Behlen.
- Dietary manager program. The class will meet two days per month on Thursdays and Fridays, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. from May 7 through April 9, 2027. This $1,200 course builds the foundation for a career in nutrition and food service management, preparing students for the Certifying Board for Dietary Managers (CBDM) exam. Students who complete the program and CBDM exam receive their Certified Dietary Manager, Certified Food Protection Professional (CDM, CFPP) credential. This certification is essential for those seeking leadership roles in long-term care facilities and hospital kitchens, or school cafeterias.
Non-credit leisure learning classes being offered include:
- Conversational Czech, advanced (online), Tuesdays, 7:00 to 8:45 p.m. February 3-March 31. Thadious Polasek, president of the Czech Ex-Students Association of Texas, will teach this $79 course. Polasek has more than 35 years of experience teaching Czech at all levels. Blinn is one of only two higher education institutions in Texas that offer Czech language classes for college credit and continuing education.
- Exploring Art course will meet Tuesdays, 6-7:30 p.m. from March 24-April 28. Topics will include the preparation of various art surfaces (canvas, wood, cardboard, rocks) color combinations, and use of textures. Students will complete an abstract acrylic piece and other projects. Instructor is Fernanda Kirkwood. The cost is $89.
