The Blinn College District demonstrated its national leadership in community college online education during the 2025 Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) Leadership Congress, where a seven-member Blinn presentation team shared how the College has embedded comprehensive quality assurance into every aspect of its online teaching and learning.
The presentation, titled “A Comprehensive Approach to Online Teaching and Learning,” highlighted Blinn’s longstanding commitment to ensuring that its online programs match — and in many cases exceed — the rigor, engagement, and support found in traditional classroom instruction.
Representing the Blinn College District were Board Chair Allison Bentke, Board Vice Chair Randy Wells, Board Secretary Rebecca Ehlert, Trustee Diane Kettler, Trustee Dennis Crowson, Dean of Academic Affairs Dr. Michelle McGehee, and Instructional Design Specialist Katie LaRocca.
During the session, Blinn’s presentation team outlined how the College adopted Quality Matters standards for course design, created a rigorous internal review process, and implemented structural consistency across its learning management system to make online courses easier to navigate and more effective for students.
Presenters also highlighted how Blinn’s commitment to student-centered online learning has expanded educational access and achievement. Thousands of students each semester benefit from virtual tutoring, online library resources, and a comprehensive online orientation that prepares them for success before classes even begin.
In addition to outlining Blinn’s approach to faculty development and academic integrity, the presentation emphasized the College’s vision for expanding online education while maintaining the highest academic standards.
“The Blinn College District is proud to share its success and contribute to a national dialogue on online learning,” said Dr. Mary Hensley, Chancellor of the Blinn College District. “Our team’s participation in the ACCT Leadership Congress reflects Blinn’s position as a leader in innovation, quality, and student achievement.”
The ACCT Leadership Congress is the nation’s largest annual meeting of community college trustees and presidents, drawing participants from across the United States and abroad to share best practices in governance and student success.
