Blinn offering refresher course for medication aides

Oct. 24 class will meet state requirements for in-service education

The Blinn College-Schulenburg Campus will host a medication aide refresher course designed to meet annual state requirements.

The one-day, $75 course will meet Friday, Oct. 24, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in-person on the Schulenburg Campus and through interactive video on the Bryan Campus. Registered nurse Linda Rabel will lead the training.

The course includes training and review in the preparation and administration of medications, documentation, licensing standards, safeguarding medications, common drug reactions and side effects, and an update on new medications available.

The course meets Texas Health and Human Services Commission requirements for certified medication aides to complete at least seven hours of in-service education annually.
