Scholarship will go to students from Bryan ISD

July 6, 2021

BullardsBritt and Errin Bullard have a simple reason for gifting a scholarship to Blinn College: They just want to help.

The Bullards are gifting an annual $1,500 scholarship to the Blinn College Foundation.

“We have been blessed and wanted to give back to the community we live in,” said Britt Bullard, whose parents both were teachers. “We are strong advocates of education and training being the biggest driver in improving your chances of long-term success in life.”

The scholarship, for academics or workforce training, will go to a Bryan ISD graduate who is a first-generation college student.

“First-generation students have the greatest needs, the greatest obstacles, and the greatest opportunities for advancement,” Britt Bullard said. “We are pleased to help these students as they get their start at Blinn College.”

Britt Bullard is a Brenham native who graduated from Blinn in 1987, then went to Texas A&M University and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in economics. Errin Bullard is a Certified Public Accountant. The couple moved to Brazos County after retiring in 2017.

Foundation Board Chairman Sam Sommer said every scholarship represents a desire to help others. The Foundation oversees approximately 300 endowed scholarships.

“I’m continually amazed by the generosity of people,” Sommer said. “Every scholarship  represents donors who simply want to make someone else’s life a little better. The impact of these scholarships will be felt for generations and we appreciate each one.”

Scholarships are available for incoming and returning students from a wide range of backgrounds, majors, and experiences.

The Foundation also provides financial support for programs and activities that enhance the quality of education for Blinn students, looks to heighten community awareness of the mission and accomplishments of the college, and promotes excellence in education.

More information on funding an endowed scholarship or applying is available at www.blinn.edu/foundation or by calling 979-830-4017.

Current high school and college students can apply for approximately 300 Blinn scholarships through a single application at www.blinn.edu/scholarships. Prior to applying for scholarships, students must complete their application for admission to Blinn College at www.goapplytexas.org.

Registration is now open for summer and fall classes.
