The Blinn College District’s wind symphony and choirs will present “Sounds of the Season,” a musical tribute to the holiday season, on Friday, Dec. 16, in the Festival Institute Concert Hall in Round Top.

Tickets are $10 and available at www.blinn.edu/boxoffice and will be available for digital purchase at the door.

“Sounds of the Season is a wonderful way to celebrate the holiday season,” Choir Director Dr. Daniel Bircher said. “This annual concert has quickly become a highlight of the Blinn College music calendar and a beloved tradition for many of our patrons.”

The 7 p.m. concert will feature the world premiere of Brooke Pierson’s “Café Bleu,” performed by the Blinn College and Brenham High School bands. Both bands co-commissioned the song, which invokes the classic American styles of Aaron Copland and George Gershwin, with a hint of the jazz idiom and the Great American Songbook.

“This is a very fun piece with a lot of energy,” Band Director Dr. Sarah Burke said. “We look forward to introducing our audience to this wonderful new piece alongside our friends at Brenham High School.”

Festival Institute Concert Hall, located at 248 Jaster Road in Round Top, opened for performances in 1983 and is acclaimed for the exceptional acoustics in its 1,000-seat concert hall.

The Blinn College District Music Department offers small classes, one-on-one attention, practical learning, and easily accessible faculty so that students are actively engaged in a superior learning environment. For more information, visit www.blinn.edu/music.
