The Blinn College District Music Program will offer Bryan and RELLIS Campus students the opportunity to perform a varied repertoire this fall as members of the Bryan Campus concert choir.

This ensemble will be open to all students and faculty and will perform music from a variety of periods and stylistic interests. Participants learn proper vocal techniques and no experience or background in choral music is required.

“We are excited to offer a quality concert choir experience in Brazos County,” said Todd Quinlan, Department Head for the Division of Arts, Kinesiology, and Agriculture. “We look forward to teaching the finer points of vocal performance while giving students an opportunity to showcase their skills in performances throughout the community.”

Students can join the concert choir by enrolling in MUEN 1141, MUEN 1142, MUEN 2141, or MUEN 2142 (the course number changes each semester). This fall, MUEN 1141: Concert Choir will take place Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:40-6:55 p.m. in the Bryan Campus T Building. The fall semester begins Wednesday, Aug. 24.

The concert choir will be instructed by Dr. Daniel Johnson, Professor of Voice and Choir. Johnson has performed several roles with the University of Utah’s Lyric Opera Ensemble, including Dr. Falke in Die Fledermaus , Sergeant Belcore in L’elisir d’amore, Maximilian in Candide, Sam in Trouble in Tahiti, and Ebenezer Scrooge in the 2016 world première of Michael Leavitt’s A Christmas Carol, with a reprise in the 2017 season. He most recently performed the Marchese from La Traviata with St. George Opera in March 2020.
