Registration currently available for Blinn's Winter Minimester and Spring semester

December 12, 2019
The Blinn College District recognized 541 graduates during its 142nd commencement ceremony Wednesday, Dec. 11, at the Bryan Performing Arts Center.
Blinn’s graduation total includes 267 reverse transfer graduates. Reverse transferring allows students who completed Blinn’s residency requirements before transferring to a four-year university to apply credits they earned at the university to their associate degree. To check eligibility, Blinn alumni should contact their four-year institution and request that their transcript be sent to Blinn, then visit Blinn’s graduation website at www.blinn.edu/graduation to complete the reverse transfer graduation application.
The commencement ceremony featured two student speakers – Melanie Schaefer representing the Bryan Campus and Austin Sean Youngs representing the Brenham Campus.
A resident of Bryan-College Station for more than 40 years, Schaefer recently embarked on the journey to become a registered nurse. She has served as Vice President of the Blinn College Nursing Student Association for the past two semesters.
Youngs grew up in Bellville and is a graduate of Bellville High School. He is an art major with the goal of becoming an art teacher. He loves working with children and currently works at the Boys & Girls Club of Washington County.
Registration is now open for Blinn’s Winter Minimester, which begins Monday, Dec. 16, and the Spring Semester, which begins Tuesday, Jan. 21.
The Winter Minimester allows Blinn students to make faster progress toward their degree by earning college credit over parts of four weeks with time off for the holidays. All of Blinn’s Winter Minimester courses are available online, allowing students to complete their coursework while enjoying the holidays.
Prospective students can apply to Blinn via the GoApplyTexas.org application. Once admitted, they can register for classes at https://my.blinn.edu or in person at the Brenham Campus Administration Building (802 Green St.), Bryan Tejas Center (3125 Texas Ave., Suite 1900), Schulenburg Campus (100 Ranger Dr.), or Sealy Campus (3701 Outlet Mall Dr., Suite 250). Blinn recommends that all students visit with an academic advisor, and students can chat online with a Blinn admissions specialist between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, at www.blinn.edu/admissions.
Blinn offers courses online and at its Brenham, Bryan, RELLIS, Schulenburg, and Sealy campuses. Blinn Online offers students greater flexibility in scheduling their courses, and academic and student support are available through the College’s online student portal, myBLINN. Blinn offers a variety of resources for students considering online courses at www.blinn.edu/online, including an orientation course, tips for taking an online course, tutorials, and frequently asked questions.
At the RELLIS Campus, Blinn courses seamlessly transition to the four-year bachelor’s degree programs offered by The Texas A&M University System regional universities also located onsite. For more information, visit www.blinn.edu/RELLIS.
Blinn’s academic transfer rate is the highest in the state, according to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, and Blinn has partnered with Texas A&M University to develop pioneering co-enrollment programs such as the Texas A&M-Blinn TEAM Program, the Texas A&M Engineering Academy at Blinn-Bryan, and the Texas A&M Engineering Academy at Blinn-Brenham.
According to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board’s CollegeForAllTexans.com, out-of-district Blinn students who enroll in 30 credit hours during the 2019-20 academic year save 42% in tuition and fees compared to students at public universities across the state. In addition to Blinn’s low tuition and fees, the Blinn Foundation offers more than 200 endowed scholarships available to incoming and returning students from a wide range of backgrounds, majors, and experiences.
