Blinn College District visual arts students and faculty will put their wares on display and raise money for student scholarships at the fourth annual Visual Arts Scholarship Fundraiser and Art Exhibit taking place through Thursday, May 2, in the Blinn-Bryan Campus Student Center (map).

The public is invited to attend a reception from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, May 2, in Student Center Room F-120, where student and faculty work will be sold via silent auction. The fundraiser will feature printed digital art, ceramics, paintings, handcrafted dog houses, and drawings – many of which have been donated to fund art scholarships for current and prospective students at the Blinn-Bryan Campus.

Art will be marked for the silent auction or for sale at a price set by the artist.

Blinn’s entire Visual Arts Department will be represented at the art exhibit, including architecture, ceramics, construction science, digital arts, drawings, graphic design, metals, and paintings.

“We are very excited about the student work we are showcasing this year,” Art Instructor Todd Overstreet said. “This is a great opportunity for students to develop an exhibit record, and for Blinn to showcase the art created during the year.”

Blinn’s Visual Arts Department provides students a deeper understanding of the creative process through lecture- and studio-based classes. Art appreciation and history classes examine the creative form through the ages, and Blinn’s hands-on courses allow students to learn the fundamentals, elements, and principles of creating art in both traditional and digital mediums. Follow the Visual Arts Department on Facebook, Instagram (@blinnarts), and Twitter (@BlinnVisualArts) for updates.

The department is part of Blinn’s Division of Visual/Performing Arts and Kinesiology, which offers programs in architecture, arts, communication studies, kinesiology, music, and theatre arts.

Registration is now open for May Minimester, and the Summer and Fall semesters. For enrollment or financial aid information, visit
