Food Service Manager Certification

The Texas Department of Health (TDH) through this 15-hour program certifies owners, food service managers, chefs, supervisory personnel, and operators of establishments that prepare and serve food to the public.

The purpose of this program is to "safeguard public health and provide to consumers food that is safe, unadulterated, and honestly presented." Topics covered in this course are: methods of proper food storage, techniques for sanitary food service preparation and employee sanitation. The course ends with the TDH Certification Examination, which is included in the course fee.

Outcomes:

Upon completing this course, participants will be able to demonstrate techniques in:

  • Sanitation regulations
  • Implementing the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP)
  • Demonstrate the benefits of proper food service preparation and storage
