Steps to creating Administrative Web Pages
Step 1 - Design
Please print this design
worksheet and fill out all sections prior to going to the next
step. Also, print these detailed
instructions to help create your web pages.
Step 2 - Customize Template
Using your design from Step 1, you will create a department specific
template from which all new pages in your website will be patterned.
The following will guide you through the template customization
process. We recommend using Dreamweaver for Steps 2 and 3.
- Opening the sample template
- Saving your template
- Adding a title to your template
- Adding a header graphic to your template
- Adding a banner graphic to your template
- Changing contact information on your template
- Adding links to other pages in your site
- Adding photos to your template
Step 3 - Create Individual Pages
Using the customized template you created in Step 2, you will create
individual web pages for each of the pages you designed in Step
1.
- Creating a new page from your template
- Inserting text in your web page
- Working with text styles
To finish your page remember to save it, then check to see how
it will look on the web by selecting “File” - “Preview
in Browser”. Be sure to preview in both Netscape and Internet
Explorer.
Step 4 - Review
Have your web pages reviewed by your Vice President for content,
and by the Public Information Office for adherence to standards.
Once approved by both, the pages are ready to be linked to the Blinn
website by the Public Information Office.
