The Surgical Technology Program will prepare graduates to supply the service area with Certified Surgical Technicians (CST's). The Program is a one-year certificate program, allowing graduates to take the certification exam to become a CST. Surgical Technologists are integral members of the surgical team, working with the surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nurses to deliver direct patient care before, during, and after surgeries. Graduates are eligible to work in a variety of settings: hospitals, ambulatory surgical centers, or research facilities.
Currently planning to begin Fall 2008.
Pending approval from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) and accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP)
Students graduating from the Blinn College Surgical Technology Program will NOT be eligible to sit for the Certified Surgical Technologist licensure exam after graduation since the Program is not accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs. Students may be eligible to sit for the exam after June 2010.
