A.       Attendance:  Students are expected to attend all classes.  An accurate record of each student’s attendance is kept by each instructor.  It is the student’s responsibility to officially drop a class he or she is no longer attending.  To officially drop a class the student must obtain the class withdrawal from an Admissions Office, complete the class withdrawal form, secure the required signatures and return the completed form to an admissions office.  A student who is subject to the TASP rules and who acquires the equivalent of two weeks of absences in the required developmental course with be withdrawn from the college.  Students are not assessed absences when representing Blinn College.  Class days missed due to inclement weather will be made up as appropriate.  a student on scholastic or disciplinary probation should not have any unexcused absences.  Drop date deadline is Nov. 21, 2003.  This is a Blinn College policy.  If a student ceases to attend class, the instructor will not and is not able to drop class for student to avoid giving an F.  It is the responsibility of the student to follow the above procedure to drop a class.

B.       Late assignments:  Assignments are due on the day assigned at the beginning of class.  Late assignments must  be turned in the next class date.  There will be a 20% penalty.

C.      Make-up work:  Students are expected to be in class each day, but especially on major exam days.  Presentations projects, survey/tours are due on date and time designated (beginning of class).  Students not in attendance for a major exam on the scheduled day will be allowed a make-up exam with a 10% penalty for the first exam missed, a 20% penalty for the second exam missed, and a 30% penalty for the third exam missed.  The make-up exam may or may not be the same as the original exam scheduled, and could contain more problems.  The make-up exam must be scheduled with the instructor and must be made-up within two days after returning to class.  There are no make-ups offered for Quizzes.  Two of the lowest grades will be dropped.

D.      Dishonesty of any kind will not be tolerated.  This includes copying work from another student or student computer diskette and turning it in as your own.  Depending on the severity of the dishonesty, one may receive either a zero for the assignment or fail the course.  All persons involved in the copying or granting permission for copying will be punished.

E.       Housekeeping.  Please keep work area neat at all times.  At the end of the period, please pick up and throw away any waste paper, and put chairs back in proper place.  No food or drinks in computer room.

F.       ADA Statement:  Blinn College would like to help students with disabilities achieve their highest potential in college.  In order to receive accommodations on exams or assignments, proper documentation must first be provided to the Office of Disability Services located in the Student Counseling Office in the H building (979) 209-7255.  You must then self identify and conference with the ADA office to begin receiving accommodations in the class.

G.      Civility Statement Members of the Blinn College community, which include faculty, staff, and students, are expected to act honestly and responsibly in all aspects of campus life.  Blinn College holds all members accountable for their actions and words.  Therefore, all members should commit themselves to have in a manner that recognizes personal respect and demonstrates concern for the personal dignity, rights, and freedoms of every member of the college community, including respect for college property and the physical and intellectual property of others.  If a student is asked to leave the classroom because of uncivil behavior, the student may not return to that class until he or she arranges a conference with the instructor.  It is the student’s responsibility to arrange for this conference.

H.      Coursework Completion.  All coursework and projects must be completed by Nov. 29.

I.         Final Exams are given at the time stated; late-comers must complete their exam by the time of the stated exam ending; students absent the day of the final exam will lose 200 points alloted for the exam.
