The Health Information Technology (HIT) Program offers two Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degrees and two certificates, all of which can be completed ONLINE. (All programs require the student to complete a clinical at a health care facility)

If you want a career in health care, but not in direct patient care, then the HIT program may be the right choice for you. The HIT program at Blinn College prepares graduates to perform technical duties which are essential to health information departments in any type of health care facility. HIT professionals organize, prepare, analyze, and maintain patient’s health records. Duties vary with the size and type of facility, but the most common duties include:

A student must have the following completed before participating in the clinical rotations at the healthcare facilities:
The student is responsible for transportation to and from their clinical sites. Clinicals are completed during the last semester of the degree plan. Expenses associated with obtaining the required documentation (listed above) are the student’s responsibility.
