Dental Hygiene Program

Welcome to the Blinn College Dental Hygiene Program

The discipline of dental hygiene is the science and practice of the recognition, treatment, and prevention of oral diseases - within the scope of the dental hygiene practice. The methods of preventing oral disease and promoting wellness are provided by the dental hygienist in collaboration with the health care team in a variety of settings.

Upon satisfactory completion of the two-year program, a student receives an Associate in Applied Science degree from Blinn College. The student is eligible to apply to take the National Board Dental Hygiene Examination and a regional/state clinical board examination. Licensure is based upon successful completion of the National Board Examination, the regional or state clinical board examination, and a state jurisprudence examination.

Blinn dental hygienist program is wonderful

Like millions of people, I do not have dental insurance, so seeing a dentist would normally have been rather expensive for me. I was told about the program at Blinn College that trains dental hygienists and found out that it needs people for its students to train with. For a nominal fee, the students do all the things that would be done during an ordinary dental visit.

When I went in. I filled out a few forms and was called to the back. The students took good care of me and were professional in their work. Although it is mostly students who do the work, they are closely supervised by experienced hygienists and a dentist.

The student working on me was extremely nice and was so good at her job that you would not be able to tell she was just a student.

When the visit was over, my teeth were the cleanest they had been in ages and I got more advice on how to keep them that way. I strongly recommend this program to anyone who needs dental work and does not have insurance. You will not be disappointed.
