BCIS 1301 Business Computer Applications

BCIS 1305 Business Computer Applications

This course discusses computer terminology, hardware, software, operating systems, and information systems relating to the business environment. The main focus of this course is on business applications of software, including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentation graphics, and business-oriented utilization of the Internet. Three class hours per week. Credit: Three semester hours.

BCIS 1431 Programming in BASIC

Introduction to the programming language BASIC. Emphasis is placed on writing, testing, and implementing programs written in this language. Programming assignments include both business and scientific applications. Three class hours and three laboratory hours per week. Credit: Four semester hours.

BCIS 1432 COBOL Programming

Introduction to the business programming language COBOL. Emphasis is placed on program design, development, implementation, maintenance, and documentation of business applications. Three class hours and three laboratory hours per week. Credit: Four semester hours.

COSC 1301 Microcomputer Applications

(Same as BCIS 1301) Introduction to the use of computers as data processing and problem-solving tools with hands on experience. Emphasis is placed on the use of application software, such as word processing, spreadsheet, database, and Internet software, to solve various information systems problems. Three class hours per week. Credit: Three semester hours.

COSC 1417 FORTRAN Programming

Introduction to the scientific programming language FORTRAN. Emphasis is placed on the design, development, implementation, maintenance, and documentation of scientific applications. Three class hours and three lab hours per week. Credit: Four semester hours.

COSC 1418 Computer Programming Pascal

A complete presentation of Pascal. The student will learn structured programming techniques as well as the special features of Pascal. Three class hours and three lab hours per week. Credit: Four semester hours.

COSC 1420 Introductory C Programming

(SAME AS BCIS 1420) Introduction to the programming language 'C'. Emphasis is placed on structured and modular programming techniques. Basic data structures and object oriented programming are utilized. Three class hours and three laboratory hours per week. Credit: Four semester hours.

COSC 1430 Variable Topics

Introduction to computer languages that are currently in demand. Language topics change as required. Emphasis is placed on the fundamentals of structured design, development, testing, implementation, and documentation. Topics also include syntax, data structures, and input/output operations. May be repeated for credit. Three class hours and three laboratory hours per week. Credit: Four semester hours.

COSC 1436 Program Fundamentals I

Introduces the fundamental concepts of structured programming. Topics include software development methodology, data types, control structures, functions, arrays, and the mechanics of running, testing, and debugging. This course assumes computer literacy. Four class hours per week. Four class hours per week. Credit: Four semester hours.

COSC 1437 PROGRAMMING FUNDAMENTALS II

Review of control structures and data types with emphasis on structured data types. Applies the object-oriented programming paradigm, focusing on the definition and use of classes along with the fundamentals of object-oriented design. Includes basic analysis of algorithms, searching and sorting techniques, and an introduction to software engineering. Prerequisite: COSC 1436. Four class hours per week. Credit: Four semester hours.

COSC 2420 C++ Language (Adv. C Lang.)

This course covers C++ language programming and data structure design, including: operators, and functions; class constructs; method and operator overloading; class inheritance; polymorphism, stream I/O and other language elements. Three class hours and three lab hours per week. Credit: Four semester hours.
