College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) is for Everyone
The College-Level Examination Program® (CLEP) exams are offered in 33 introductory-level college subjects.  To assist you with the CLEP exam registration process, we have created a demonstration video.

CLEP TIMED EXAMS
CLEP exams are 90 minutes in length, except for College Composition which is 120 minutes in length due to the essay portion and consists of multiple-choice questions.  For credit by examination in any English course, Blinn College requires the optional CLEP Essay.  Blinn College will only score essays for College Composition Modular.  Students who wish to have test score evaluated for credit by examination in College Composition Modular must have their objective score and essay sent to Testing Center (school code 4634).

TEST DAYS AND TIMES

  • Mondays 9 AM and Wednesdays 9 AM, Foreign Language Exams only.
  • Mondays 11 AM and Wednesdays 11 AM, Subject Exams only.
  • Report to the testing center 30 minutes before scheduled testing time. 
  • STUDENTS ARRIVING LATE WILL NOT BE ALLOWED INTO THE TESTING ROOM.

BRING ON TEST DAY

  • Current valid government issued photo ID with signature.
  • Test Ticket and Receipt for the Proctor fee(s) from Enrollment Services.
  • CLEP $80 Exam Registration Ticket, register and pay for a CLEP exam at http://clep.collegeboard.org/started.  Must print the CLEP registration ticket for the test on this site and bring it along on test day. Effective July 1, 2017: CLEP fee will increase from $80 to $85.
  • Appointment Confirmation Email, printed copy.
  • No test without the items listed above!  NO EXCEPTIONS!

DO NOT BRING
Cell phones, calculators, PDAs of any kind, beepers, alarm watches, books, papers, food and drinks, large bags or packets.  A calculator is provided within the test software if your exam permits you to use one.

APPOINTMENT AND PAYMENT PROCESS
TOTAL COST $115    Effective July 1, 2017: CLEP fee will increase from $80 to $85. 
Step 1.    $80 CLEP FEE, register and pay for a CLEP exam at http://clep.collegeboard.org/started.  This payment is
separate from the proctor fee(s).  Must be printed and presented at Enrollment Services.
Step 2.    CLEP EXAM APPOINTMENT FORM - CLEP exams are given by appointment only!  Submit completed Appointment Form at testcenter@blinn.edu one week before your selected test date along with a copy of the CLEP $80 registration ticket. 
Step 3.   TEST DAY!  $35 Proctoring fee for one CLEP exam.  Proctor fee(s) are payable at Enrollment Services on the same day of testing.  Pay with a major credit card, debit card, or cash.  No personal checks.  Rescheduling will incur another proctor fee.  Must show printed copy of CLEP $80 registration ticket at Enrollment Services and Appointment Confirmation email. 
Step 4.  ESSAY $10 Fee – Student will be allowed take the optional essay if and only if a passing score is achieved on the multiple choice section of the test.  FEES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE!  ALL FEES ARE NON- REFUNDABLE, NON-TRANSFERABLE, AND DUE BEFORE YOU BEGIN THE EXAM.  NO EXCEPTIONS!

BLINN COLLEGE’S CLEP CREDIT GRANTING POLICY

CLEP/DSST FOR MILITARY PERSONNEL 

  • Dantes Subject Standardized Test fees are not charged if test takers are Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support (DANTES), U.S. Department of Defenses (DOD) employees or eligible civilian employees. However, Blinn's nonrefundable, nontransferable Proctor fee(s) will be due at the time of testing. 
  • Eligible veterans can receive full reimbursement for the CLEP exam and Proctor fee(s) from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.  Retesting will no longer be funded on a previously funded CLEP exam.  However, service members may personally fund a retest after waiting six months.  Veterans must pay the CLEP exam fees and Blinn’s nonrefundable, nontransferable Proctor fee(s) at the time of testing.  Veterans may seek reimbursement for all fees from the VA after they have taken the exam.   See link! https://clep.collegeboard.org/military 

SCORE REPORTS AND TRANSCRIPTS

  • Upon completion of the exam, an instant unofficial score report will be provided by the exam administrator. The official score report will go to your designated address within three weeks.
  • Individuals who indicate, at the time of the exam, which college, employer, or certifying agency that they want to receive their CLEP exam scores will incur no additional cost — the exam fee covers it.
  • Individuals who wish to have their scores reported to a particular institution need to look up the score recipient code number in the Colleges Granting CLEP Credit database in advance.  Bring the code(s) with you on the day of your exam.  Blinn College's score recipient code number is 4634.
  • If you did not indicate a score recipient institution at the time of your exam can order a CLEP Transcript.  The transcript will include all CLEP exams taken and the scores you earned in the last 20 years.  There is a $20.00 transcript fee which can be paid by credit card.  CLEP Transcript Request Form    If you are active military then click here for more information.    If you are a Veteran then please visit the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs  for information about who is eligible for the CLEP benefit.  You can also contact clep@info.collegeboard.org  or call  1-800-257-9558
  • IMPORTANTBlinn College cannot provide CLEP transcripts.  Should you request that Blinn receive a copy of your CLEP test scores, the Registrar’s Office will evaluate if you received a credit granting score and adjust your Blinn transcript accordingly.

RETAKES
A waiting period of 3 months is required to retake any CLEP exam.  Blinn College strictly adheres to this policy.
